IT Essentials – Should I take my IT in-house?
Video length: 1 minute 26 seconds
Transcript:
I often hear my clients ask me, "Should we bring our IT in-house or keep it outsourced?"
Well, the answer is there is no one size that fits all, but understanding these three key considerations will help you make the right decision for your business.
The first is the expertise equation, where you need to understand, "What talents and skills do I need to bring to be able to service my organisation?"
The next one on the list is coverage and continuity. "Do I have those skill sets available to me at the times I need them the most, and how do I handle after hours?"
Third and final is keeping pace with change. "This environment changes frequently, and do I have the tenacity and the skill set to be able to deliver those services over time?"
Sometimes you may need someone to look internally and ask the hard questions.
"Are we doing things correctly?"
"Can we improve?"
"Can we see the forest for the trees?"
These are all things a dedicated IT provider should be considering and would be able to offer you a road map so that you can see trajectory improvements for your operational discipline over time.
The bottom line really is both approaches have their merit. So what is important is to understand your business, what works for you and also have a relationship with an IT provider that can give you this guidance to be able to choose the best solution for you.
As always, if you are ever looking for guidance, feel free to reach out to Netway and myself specifically. I'd be happy to talk.
