From reactive to reassured: Koya's IT transformation
About Koya Aboriginal Corporation:
Koya Aboriginal Corporation is a 100% Aboriginal owned and led not-for-profit organisation focused on engaging, developing, nurturing and supporting Aboriginal and vulnerable children and young people across Perth's Northeast and Southwest metro areas.
The challenge:
As a community-based not-for-profit, Koya needed a managed IT partner who could support a broad environment spanning Microsoft 365, cloud services, cyber security and day-to-day user support without placing unnecessary financial strain on the organisation.
Cyber security was a particular priority given the sensitive nature of the information Koya manages and the organisation needed confidence that their systems, data and staff were adequately protected to meet their obligations and best-practice standards.
Like many NFPs, Koya also needed a provider who understood their mission and values, not just their infrastructure.
The solution:
From commencement in 2023, Netway took the time to understand Koya's organisation, operational requirements and the unique challenges faced by community-based not-for-profits.
Recognising Koya's not-for-profit context, Netway took a budget-conscious approach throughout by recommending cost-effective solutions and avoiding unnecessary hardware expenditure.
On the cyber security front, Netway deployed new firewalls, established Microsoft 365 backups and secured Koya's Microsoft 365 tenant to give the organisation confidence that sensitive community data was properly protected.
When Koya needed to move offices at short notice, Netway also stepped in to manage the relocation swiftly while ensuring minimal disruption to the organisation's operations and the communities relying on their services.
The result:
Netway's proactive review of Koya's IT environment uncovered unused software subscriptions and licences that were quietly draining the organisation's budget. Removing these delivered savings of over $2,500 per year and these funds were redirected toward Koya's programs and community work .
On Netway's recommendation, Koya also invested in rebuilding the network infrastructure across both offices, upgrading internet services and refreshing key hardware. These improvements have materially lifted the reliability, speed and security of their day-to-day operations.
The ongoing proactive monitoring means potential issues are identified and resolved before they become problems, giving Koya confidence that their systems remain secure, reliable and efficient while allowing their team to stay focused on what matters most: supporting their community.
Working with Netway:
As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, it is important for Koya to work with service providers who understand and respect their mission, values and community responsibilities. Netway demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting that work from the outset and has become a valued and trusted partner.
Also whenever assistance is required, the team responds promptly, communicates clearly, and works diligently to resolve issues with minimal disruption to operations. Regardless of the size of the request, the team consistently demonstrates professionalism, patience and a genuine commitment to customer service.
That commitment extends beyond the help desk. When Koya's older hardware was due for retirement, Netway wiped and donated the laptops, desktops and tablets to people in need rather than sending them to landfill, a practical act of community contribution that reflects a shared set of values.
We highly recommend Netway Networks to any organisation seeking dependable managed IT services, expert technical support, strong cyber security practices and a team that genuinely cares about its clients' success."
